Bus Safety
A group of South Coast parents based at Ulladulla have formed an action group to try to
bring about improvements in the safety of school buses. The main issues the group are
lobbying for are seatbelts for students, overturning the three to a two person seat rule, and
ending the practice of allowing up to 20 students to stand in the aisle.
Parents can support this cause by writing to politicians voicing their concerns. The action
group suggested letters be sent to the following:
Mr Russell Smith MP
Member for Bega
P.O. Box 758
Bega 2550
Mr Wayne Smith MP
Member for South Coast P.O. Box 1436 Nowra 2541
Mr Grant McBride MP
The Chairman
Staysafe Joint Standing Committee
Parliament House
Macquarie Street
Sydney 2000
Mr Carl Scully MP
Minister of Transport and Roads
GPO Box 1620
Sydney 2001
Although your children may not use the bus to travel to school on a daily basis, this is an
issue that impacts on all our children during excurisions or trips to sporting events. The
P&C would like to encourage parents to take the time to write to the above politicians, or
others, to bring pressure for changes to the law.
Further information can be obtained from the school office.

Netball Knockout Round Three
Our team played hard with excellent defence and attack. However Vincentia’s experience
of playing in a strong division on the weekends showed through and we were defeated 35
to 11.
